PUP Program

Accidents happen!  The P.U.P Program, which stands for Prevent Unplanned Pregnancies, is here to help.  Contact us to book an appointment and we will fix your female dog or cat for free, AND fully vet and find loving homes for the puppies or kittens.

Unexpectedly find yourself with many new sets of tiny paws in the house and don’t know what to do? We can help!

What’s included in the program?

Free spay surgery for the mother

The mother dog or cat is spayed at no cost to the owner to prevent future accidental pregnancies.

Veterinary care for puppies or kittens

The SPCA provides veterinary care, including health checks, vaccinations, and spaying or neutering before adoption.

Loving homes for the litter

The SPCA takes responsibility for placing the puppies or kittens in adoptive homes.

Support along the way

The SPCA works with participating families and has provided food and guidance during the process.

It’s never too late to ask for help.

Most unplanned litters are born because pet owners don’t realize that ‘babies’ can have babies of their own.  Female dogs can breed as early as six months and cats as early as four months.

Did you know that female dogs can breed twice a year with litters of 6-10 puppies?  Cats can breed three times a year with an average of 4 kittens per litter.

The answer to accidental litters and pet overpopulation is to spay or neuter your pets, typically at five months.
