Onyx's Bags Are Packed & His Pants Are On – He's Ready for His Next Adventure!

Onyx has been in foster care since March while he received some much-needed medical care. He's been enjoying his time in foster, and here's what his foster family has to say about this lovable little guy…

Onyx packs a whole lot of personality into a little body! His ideal day starts by waking you up for cuddles and love, soon followed by a big breakfast (he'll leave half for later), and then he'll sprawl out on the couch or watch the birds out the window until you come home from work. He'll come running to say hello as you get in the door and let you know how much he missed you, and then he's down for whatever. A nap, playtime (his favourite is a string toy in a boot!), or following you around as you do chores.

He's a very curious and brave little guy, and whether it's an unexplored bag, the basement, or a cabinet, he's dialed in and ready to go the second you'll let him in there. Strangely, this doesn't usually apply to the front door, and more often than not he just wants to say hello to the person on the other side. And oh, boy, there's nothing this guy loves more than his people. Anyone who walks through the front door is an instant friend, and he's always around when guests are over, snoozing in the most comfortable lap and soaking in all the attention.

Onyx came into foster with "no pants" – he had skin issues and overgroomed the bottom half of his body until it was almost bald. Over the last few months, with a diet and medication, Onyx has grown some lovely new pants and he looks fabulous (He has developed a very refined sense of style in sweaters, as well!). However, he is on a liquid medication (Atopica) every other day and will likely continue to need this for the rest of his life. He's not the biggest fan of it but he has never tried to bite or scratch while being given medication and he recovers from his bad mood quickly (especially if it's followed by a snack 🙂 )

Onyx has been a pleasure to foster and we have every confidence that he'd make a great cat for a wide variety of lifestyles! He's full of love, fully dressed, and ready for his forever home"

If you are interested in meeting Onyx, please fill out the adoption application at the link below: https://www.novascotiaspca.ca/cat-adoption-application/

Staff from the Dartmouth SPCA will be in touch to set up a meeting at their foster home.
